Red Oxalis

It's Rednesday At Sue Loves Cherries. My red this week is a red oxalis plant that my Sister gave my Mom several weeks ago. I asked for a piece of it, and put it on some water on my kitchen window. I just love it - the color and shape are darling. And guess what - it rooted!
Oh yeah, there's also a little tomato that came up as a "volunteer" in some plants my Sister gave me earlier this summer. We brought the tomato in while it was still yellow because we were due to get a heavy frost. It ripened on the windowsill. It's the only tomato I saw around here that wasn't blighted this year.  And of course, there's my little copper angel - I made the for Christmas presents a few years back.
Hope you all have a great Red-Wednesday!!

  1. Hi Robin! Have you seen the flowers from it yet? I have one and the flowers are bright yellow - looks stunning against the red leaves. Have a great day!

  4. Love the red leaves on that plant! I had some oxalis plants a few years ago, and if they were in a place with alot of sun, the leaves would be a dark purple color. Unfortunately I forgot to dig them up before they froze!
    Happy Rednesday!

  8. The Oxalis is a beautiful plant. I've them sometimes with white flowers and green leaves. But this one is great too. Your little red tomato is the finishing touch for this Rednesday!

  10. Hello Robin,
I found your blog by entering red oxalis in google. Up popped your blog/website. I have a red oxalis plant and it is gorgeous. It has tiny lavender blooms. The leaves can be very large. At night the leaves fold up as if they are going to sleep. I was hoping to find someone who had separated one and propagated from a piece of root. I will definitely try it.
I live in Sarasota FL and have my plant in a tall ceramic vase by my french doors. It loves it there. I brought it back from Vermont 2 years ago and was hopeful it would grow well here too. Thanks for sharing about your Red plant!
